Dimoria College is the brainchild of a group of highly motivated social entrepreneurs who were in the seventies dreamt of bringing the gospel of higher education to this relatively backward tribal belt area of Dimoria. The College was established in the year, 1979 and formally inaugurated on 29th August of that year with Arts Stream. The Science Stream got a fillip with the inauguration in 1992 by the then Hon’ble Vice President of India Sir K.R. Narayanan. In view of visionary zeal with dedication and hard works of local people, teachers and with the support of management the Department of Physics was established in the year1987 with higher secondary section at the beginning. In the year 1993 the UG general course and immediately in 1994 Major courses was introduced to impart knowledge of Basic science courses to the first generation and under privileged group of students of the greater region of Dimoria specifically. With a zeal to transform this group of students the Department is striving continuously to reach its goal. At the advent of Introduction of NEP under Govt. of India the department is preparing with an aim of introducing a quality education with Multi-disciplinary approach having flexibility in choices of courses. Vision : The vision of Dimoria college is to mould the character of the future generations as competent citizens of the nation, who can be self reliant and inspiring for others. Mission: It has its mission a passionate concern for providing higher education for upcoming generations for this educationally and socially backward region, predominantly inhabitant by various tribal and ethnic groups of people. The college intends to translate into reality the dreams and visions of the founding fathers through teaching, learning, evaluation, innovations, research and extension. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: The specific objectives of the department to fulfill its mission are to strengthen the existing science education/curriculum in a number of ways as mention below : 1] To strengthen the existing academic and laboratory infrastructure for achieving excellence in teaching and training. 2] To enhance the quality of the learning and teaching process to stimulate original thinking through ‘Hands On” exposure to experimental work and participation in Summer Schools/ Outreach programmes. 3] To promote networking and strengthen ties with neighboring institutions and other laboratories. 4] To conduct specialized training programmes for the Students, faculty & schools teachers to improve for optimizing technical capabilities. 5] To increase capabilities of core instrumentation resources by procuring new equipment and upgrading of existing facilities. 6] To provide access and exposure to students to R& D laboratories and industries in the NER region of India. 7] To help in devising standard curricula as per guidelines of NEP for multiple entry and exit having flexibility in choices of courses, effective skill courses and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)/ kit’s for practical’s. 8] To provide better Library facility/ N-LIST facilities to students and teachers both in the department as well as in the college.
